Making these fabric face collages is a learning process. I am trying out different techniques with each one. Last night, I sketched Fabric Face Collage #3…Mari Gloria. This is all trial and error for me, and it is a challenging learning process. These are a few of the steps in creating the face.
This time, I hand-stitched the multiple pieces that I had glued to the fabric to make the face. This helped tremendously when it came time to using FMQ. I am still trying to figure out how to improve the eyes and nose.

I like the look and sound of this lady. Also the look at your work process helps me understand the challenges of making these portraits.
I have an 82 year old cousin who had her own dance studio. She still teaches castanets, and her small group played with an orchestra.
She sounds like quite a lady and a secret ambition of mine is to play the castanets, I have been fascinated by them since I was small, and they were very exotic in our part of the world at the time (Tennessee, 1960’s).
Would love to meet her!
😊
I just took an excellent portrait class with Lyric Kinard—yesterday, in fact. She teaches nationally, but also has her own online classes at LyricKinard.com. I like your portraits, and I think you would enjoy her class.
Oh, Mary, thank you for this information. Her website is fantastic. I see she has some classes scheduled in Texas in the fall. Thank you so much!
Great that she will be teaching in Texas. I’m pretty sure you will love her classes.
Any excuse to visit Kerrville!
I really like this one,
Thank you.
